Anti ISA Update (3): KDN Poll

The Kementerian Dalam Negeri news portal has been running a survey on the Internal Security Act. You can access it here.

5 questions are asked. I was intrigued by the last one:

Tahukah anda, Amerika Syarikat dan Britain turut mempunyai undang-undang pencegahan mereka yang dikenali sebagai Anti Terrorism Act dan Patriot Act. ISA (Malaysia) adalah salah satu undang-undang yang dirujuk oleh mereka.

Translated, it would sound something like this:

Do you know that the U.S. and Britain both have enacted prevention laws known as the Anti Terrorism Act and Patriot Act? Malaysia's ISA law was one of the reference points.

Like that's acceptable? Just because we have it, it's a blank cheque for everyone else to do it? But hang on, doesn't that mean that we're saying that Guantanamo is o.k. - something we know that our government and MSM were very critical of? And since when did two wrongs make a right anyway? Irrespective of who enacted those laws, it's still a crime against humanity.

Interestingly, out of a total of 5344 responses for Question No. 1:

"Pada pandangan anda, ISA adalah: Preventive law, Draconian law, or Tidak tahu", these were the results:

Preventive law: 9% (487 votes)
Draconian law: 88% (4725)
Not sure: 7% (132)

If that isn't a clear signal to the pollsters, then I don't know what is!

Vote here. (see bottom right hand corner)
