Makkal Sakti! Reformasi!

Beyond my wildest dreams, beyond my earnest hopes, beyond belief..... that's the feeling this Sunday morning, the day after the political tsunami that swept the peninsular last night. The statistics are stark:

1. 5 states are fall to Opposition control. Kapow!

2. The BN has lost its 2/3rd. majority in parliament. Kapow!!!!

3. Parliament will have at least 82 Opposition members, thus hopefully safeguarding all aspects of Malaysian life. Kapow!!

4. With the DAP/PKR/PAS Barisan Rakyat in control, the avenue is now open to new ways of doing things together, with as much equal representation for all Malaysians as possible. Kapow!!

For the momentous events that have taken place, a prayer of thanksgiving is appropriate. Reproduced here from Anil Netto's blog (without permission!):

“Almighty God/Allah, thank you for an amazing night. You are a God of Justice, Truth and Compassion. You love especially the poor, the meek, the marginalised and the overburdened. You want your people to be ruled with Justice and Peace. Thank you for taking us a major step further in this direction. Thank you for making all of us more aware of the importance of the struggle for Justice and Truth. Let your Justice flow like a mighty river in our land. Thank you, Lord. Amen/Amin.”

And today, I'd like to shout out from the mountain top at the top of my lungs:

Today, I am proud to be a Malaysian. Today, the people, the makkal, have spoken.
