Lesson From Colombia

This little piece of news jumped up at me..... Colombian bishops to celebrate mass for aborted children. Read the full report here. A quick check on a UN website revealed this about abortion policy in Malaysia:

1.Grounds on which abortion is permitted:

To save the life of the woman - Yes
To preserve physical health - Yes
To preserve mental health - Yes
Rape or incest - No
Foetal impairment - No
Economic or social reasons - No
Available on request - No

2. Additional requirements:

Third-party authorization by a medical professional is required. The legal period allowed is 120 days and the woman’s consent is required.

For further info, go www.un.org/esa/population/publications/abortion/doc/malaysia...

While Seals and Crofts put it rather plainly here in this requiem:

UNBORN CHILD
(lyrics by Lana Bogan; music by James Seals, 1974)
From the album
UNBORN CHILD (1974).

Oh little baby, you'll never cry, nor will you hear a sweet lullabye.

Oh unborn child, if you only knew just what your momma was plannin' to do.
You're still a-clingin' to the tree of life, but soon you'll be cut off before you get ripe.
Oh unborn child, beginning to grow inside your momma, but you'll never know.
Oh tiny bud, that grows in the womb, only to be crushed before you can bloom.

Mama stop! Turn around, go back, think it over.
Now stop, turn around, go back, think it over.
Stop, turn around, go back think it over.

Oh no momma, just let it be. You'll never regret it, just wait and see.
Think of all the great ones who gave everything
That we might have life here, so please bear the pain.

Mama stop! Turn around, go back, think it over.
Now stop, turn around, go back, think it over.
Stop, turn around, go back think it over.

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, to the best of my knowledge, I haven't heard of such a specific mass here for those whose lives were ended even before they had a real chance to begin, with the exception of occasions like the Feast of the Holy Innocents, etc. ....if we haven't done so before, I would sure like to hope that we could take a leaf from South America and do likewise.
