Time We Forced Our Institutions To Do Their Jobs

In a couple of days, we will be marking the 1st anniversary of the momentous 2008 General Elections, a process that began with the BN losing its two thirds majority in Parliament and the loss of 5 states to the opposition coalition.

In the interim, we have witnessed a multitude of flip-flop policies, "frog-jumping", one opposition state falling back to BN (or has it?!), increasing attacks on the minority, the loss of more than 50,000 jobs, the continuing lack of confidence in institutions like the police and judiciary and a whole range of social-economic issues coming to the fore.

So, like many others I suppose, I too have been asking myself, thinking and talking about the ongoing saga of Malaysian politics and the dire straits in which this nation is in right now.

Which is why I believe this article by John Lee in Malaysia Insider today paints an accurate picture of the state of the nation today and points a way out for the country. Suffice to say it agrees with what I think.

Read it, Digest it. If it makes sense, do something about it. Because if we don't .... the alternative is scary.

Read John's article here.
